32% of Washington's college freshmen aren't ready for college-level work and spend their tuition gaining remedial skills they should've received for free in high school.
Washington’s Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) adopted the Common Core in 2011 and has been working with school districts and teachers to roll out implementation. The standards will be fully implemented in all 295 school districts in the 2013-14 school year and students will begin using new tests designed to better measure learning in the 2014-15 school year.
