23% of Utah's college freshmen aren't ready for college-level work and spend their tuition gaining remedial skills they should've received for free in high school.
The State Board of Education is raising the bar of performance expectations through higher, more rigorous standards, informed and aligned assessments, and supporting students and educators with targeted academic feedback. The Board is doing so as part of its overall mission to ensure all students are prepared for college and careers in today’s economy. The Common Core was adopted in August 2010 and full implementation takes place during the 2014 - 2015 school year.
