42% of Montana's college freshmen aren't ready for college-level work and spend their tuition gaining remedial skills they should've received for free in high school.
Montana educators joined together to examine the Common Core Standards. They determined that the standards emphasize what students should know and be able to accomplish at every grade level and prepare students to be college and career ready upon graduation from high school. In addition, Montana's Common Core Standards reflect the state's values and priorities and include Indian Education for All content. In November 2011, the State Board adopted Common Core and implementation takes place during the 2013 - 2014 school year.
